Laser Coding

The iCON laser has been specifically designed for small character coding applications in packaged goods and industrial products where it offers users an affordable laser alternative to inkjet. It enjoys all of the advantages of a laser. It is reliable and easy to use and because it uses no consumables it has a very low cost of ownership. It is clean; it leaves no mess and there are no solvent emissions.

Macsa has designed the iCON laser to be small and compact so that it is easy to install in even the most confined production locations. There is an integrated touch screen interface with the option of a remote controller.
The iCON laser takes full advantage of Macsa’s 25 year plus experience in laser technology and its partnerships with leading component manufacturers. It uses high performance optics, powerful hardware and advanced, low overhead software to enable the iCON laser to meet the speeds of most production lines. The iCON comes in 2 varieties, the stand alone version and the iCON Net which comes complete with an ethernet card enabling you to integrate it with your network.
The iCON can be mounted on almost any production line or carton coding equipment. The video below features the iCON on an Allen BDSVL carton coding machine. In this example the resident Hot Foil coder has been temporarily replaced by The iCON. The BDSVL stops the sleeve under the laser for less than a second whilst a best before date is applied. The sleeve is only stopped as the date is being applied to a white box and therefore a stronger burn is required than would be the case if the box was of a dark colour.

Among the compact laser systems, it is the Plus that sets new standards in its class with regards to its features. It can be used for industrial coding on plastic, varnished and anodised metal, glass, paper, coated and printed cardboard, plus many other materials.
As standard, the K-1010 Plus includes an Ethernet interface and a high-speed marking head.
The marking area can be extended to 250 x 250mm simply by changing lenses. Even particularly difficult requirements, such as compliance with 21 CFR Part 11 in the pharmaceuticals sector, can be met with this laser system.
It can be operated via a handheld terminal device incorporating the Marca PC Software, direct via a PC, or a AllenView (Touchscreen terminal).
The K-1010 Plus can be used in static or dynamic coding as a standard feature. The beam exit can be selected at either 0° or 90°. The K-1010 Plus does not require a additional external control unit.
